SriLankan Airlines Delayed 548 Flights, Incurred $784,000 Loss: Audit Report
A National Audit Office report reveals that SriLankan Airlines delayed 548 flights for durations ranging from 3 to 59 hours between 1 April 2022 and 30 September 2023.
The audit highlights that these delays and cancellations cost the airline US$ 784,000 during the 2022/2023 financial year. Key contributing factors included difficulties in securing replacement aircraft, prolonged grounding of unserviceable neo engines, delays in obtaining spare parts, and financial constraints affecting the company’s cash flow.
In response, the airline’s management claimed that continuous measures have been implemented to address these operational challenges.
This information is detailed in the audit report for SriLankan Airlines’ 2023/2024 financial year.
