WhatsApp Argument Ends in Attempted Shooting, Man Arrested

A 53-year-old man was arrested in Negombo for allegedly trying to shoot a former schoolmate after an argument in a WhatsApp group, police said.

Police revealed that the suspect came with a gun to confront his friend, with whom he had a disagreement in a school batch group chat. He reportedly fired a shot into the air during the confrontation.

A video showing the two men scuffling has surfaced online and is being used as evidence in the investigation.

Police are continuing their inquiries into the incident.
