Warning to striking train drivers
The Department of Railways has informed the 84 railway drivers who are engaged in a strike informed to report to work immediately.
If they fail to report to work, they will be considered to have vacated their posts, and relevant letters will be dispatchd, the department said.
The Railway Authority has conveyed that 84 engine drivers will be participating in trade union action on today.
In response, the department has taken proactive steps to mitigate the disruption caused by the strike. To provide commuters with viable alternatives, they have augmented the existing train fleet by adding 40 office train services.
