Uduwaragedara files first petition challenging Online Safety Bill

Journalist Tharindu Uduwaragedara filed a Fundamental Rights petition with the Supreme Court yesterday (3), challenging the Online Safety Bill.

This petition, registered under case number SC/SD/66/2023, marks the first legal challenge against the said Bill.

It has been reported that Dr. Jayampathi Wickramaratne PC, will represent him in the Supreme Court.

The bill regarding the safety of online methods was presented to Parliament on the same day.

The public can challenge the petition within 14 days from now on.
