SLTDA warns ‘foreigners only’ hotels of licence ban
The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) today(18) warned hotels and restaurants that follow the ‘Foreigners Only’ policy will face a licence cancellation.
In a statement, the SLTDA noted it received many complaints that some hotels and restaurants only serve for foreign tourists, discriminating local tourists.
This decision was made following these complaints.
SLTDA said after a formal complaint is made and if the establishment is found to have been discriminatory, Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority will not hesitate to suspend or cancel the licences, including informing travelers about it and notifying Online Travel Agencies to abstain from taking any bookings.
