SJB forms alternative parliament

The SJB today (6) formed alternative parliament at the party head office in protest to ‘unruly conduct’ of the government MPs.

The SJB MPs boycotted today’s sitting saying that they will continue boycotting the sittings until the Speaker ensures their saftey in the Chamber.

This situation was arisen following the clashes between government and SJB MPs on last Friday (3) and Saturday (4), after the speech of SJB MP Manusha Nanayakkara.

The SJB MPs also held a protest today in front of Parliament as well.

Meanwhile, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana announced that a committee consisting of senior members from the Government and Opposition will be appointed within the week to look into the brawls as well..
