Second Reading of Budget 2022 passed with majority of 93 votes

The vote on the second reading of Appropriation Bill 2022 was passed in parliament a short whilw ago with a majority of 93 votes.

The vote was taken place after Chif Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella requested a divisiob.

A total of 153 votes were cast in favour of the Bill, while 60 votes were cast against.

Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa presented the budget to Parliament on 12 November and the second reading of the budget was held from the 13 November onwards.

The Committee Stage Debate on the Budget will begin from tomorrow (23) and it will be held until the 10 December.

The Third Reading on the Budget is scheduled to be held on 10 December.
