Prominent athlete gone missing in abroad

It has been reported that a prominent Sri Lankan athlete has gone missing while representing the country at an invitational athletics event held in Geneva, Switzerland.

The athlete in question is Grashan Dhananjaya, who holds the Sri Lankan record in Triple Jump (men) and is also the national champion in Long Jump.

According to the Daily Mirror, Grashan Dhananjaya had traveled to Switzerland on a personal invitation to participate in the athletics meet held in Geneva. Accompanying him were Sarangi de Silva, the long jump champion, and Y. K. Kularathna, the National Athletic Coach.

Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) Secretary, Saman Kumara Gunawardena, commented on the situation, stating that the SLA cannot assume responsibility for the athlete since the tour was organized through a private invitation.
