Probe launched into conduct of hot tempered doctor

The Health Ministry has launched an investigation into a consultant pediatrician at Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children (LRH) following multiple complaints received against the said consultant. LRH Director Dr. G. Wijesuriya said.
According to Daily Mirror,Dr. Wijesuriya stated, “I have received a series of grievances from several doctors who work with the female doctor, regarding her behavior. Some of these doctors are her colleagues, while others represent medical associations.” He further mentioned that he has informed the Health Ministry about the matter, and they have initiated an investigation.
Dr. Wijesuriya also expressed concern that the doctors working with the consultant in question on the 8B ward have refrained from reporting to duty. He emphasized the unfairness of this situation to the children receiving treatment in the ward. He urged the doctors to return to work immediately, as the lives of the children could be at risk.
Meanwhile, Dr. Chamil Wijesinghe, the Media Spokesman for the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA), also said that this is not the first time complaints have been lodged against the consultant in question. He mentioned that there have been previous incidents where she faced scrutiny. Dr. Wijesinghe added that the situation appears to have worsened due to the lack of concrete action taken in response to those earlier complaints.
