President’s Secretary issues guidelines for officials regarding attending parliamentary committees

The President’s Secretary, Saman Ekanayake, has issued an official letter to all Ministries’ Secretaries regarding their attendance at parliamentary committee meetings.

Today (6th July), Ekanayake sent the letter, with copies to Parliament Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena and the newly-appointed Secretary General of Parliament, Kushani Rohanadeera, as reported by the President’s Media Division (PMD).

According to the letter, Ekanayake expressed that if the Opposition Leader intends to summon public officials for a meeting to be held within the Parliament premises, he must notify the relevant Minister in writing. The Minister will then grant approval for the officers to attend the meeting.
