President to Undertake Three-Day Official Visit to Germany

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is set to depart for Germany on June 10 for an official diplomatic visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations. The visit, scheduled from June 11 to 13, comes at the invitation of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, the visit will focus on enhancing cooperation in key sectors including tourism, investment, trade, digital economy, and vocational training.
President Dissanayake is expected to hold high-level discussions with German leaders, including President Steinmeier and key federal ministers. He will also chair a Business Forum organized by the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) to promote Sri Lanka’s economic transformation and explore new trade and investment opportunities.
The President will meet with representatives of Germany’s tourism and travel industry, highlighting Sri Lanka as a prime destination for German tourists — a significant segment of the country’s foreign visitors.
President Dissanayake will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath and senior government officials. The visit underscores over 70 years of diplomatic relations and growing cooperation between Sri Lanka and Germany in areas such as maritime security, human rights, good governance, and education.
