President reveals opinion on PM’s post

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has informed the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) that Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has not been requested to step down or informed of being removed, the Lankadeepa reported.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa made the revelation during a meeting of the ruling party that was held last night (28). 

The President has further revealed that he has no reason to cause any issues within the government or the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) party.

Stating that it was essential to resolve the prevailing national crisis in Sri Lanka by working together, the President said it will require the support of all the members of the SLPP.

A tense situation was also reported during the meeting due to a difference of opinion among the ruling party ministers and MPs who had participated in the discussion. 

A number of ministers and members of the SLPP, as well as Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, had been in attendance.
