President Ranil Wickremesinghe to Attend G77 Summit in Cuba

President Ranil Wickremesinghe is expected to leave for Cuba next week to attend the Group of 77 (G77) summit in Havana, said the President’s Media Division.

The “G77 and China” Head of State Summit on “Current challenges of development: Role of science, technology and innovation” is scheduled to be held on September 15 and 16, 2023 in Havana, Cuba.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe will participate in the “G77 and China” Heads of State Summit, according to an official invitation by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

Along with this Head of State Summit, bilateral discussions are also planned to be held between President Ranil Wickramasinghe and the Cuban President with the aim of further developing the bilateral cooperation between Sri Lanka and Cuba.

The “G77 and China” Heads of State Summit is the largest intergovernmental grouping of 134 developing countries according to the United Nations, and it provides space for Southern countries to articulate, promote, and jointly negotiate their collective economic interests.
