No truth in reports about conspiracy to assassinate President: Police

Denying reports that the CID has started an investigation into alleged conspiracy to assassinate President Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Police today said CID has not received such information.

A news article has been published on a website operated by private radio channel claiming that a group belonging to a political party in Sri Lanka had conducted a discussion overseas to assassinate the President.

The report in question alleged that CID has started an investigation after recieving this information that claimed the assassination attempt would be carried out within two weeks.

In a statement, the Police said CID did not recieve such information and therefore, the media reports are false.
