Nine Teams Set to Compete at Cavaliers Six-a-Side Tournament

Nine teams are expected to take part at the Lanka Cavaliers inaugural Six a side Cricket tournament which will be held on August 26 at Land Development Corporation grounds, Narahenpita.

This is going to be a keen tussle among this teams while Veteran cricketers who were involved in cricket those days once again will be seen in action during this short format game limited to six overs per side. Sixes tournament always filled with excitement and tournament organisers Lanka Cavaliers are hoping to make the event a success, said Lanka Cavaliers Cricket Secretary Retired Brigadier Thusitha Karunaratne.

St Thomas Kotte, Old Thomians Mt Lavinia, Old Royalists, Sri Lanka Army, Police SC, MCA, Colombo Masters, Vintage teams will battle in this tournament. The cricket umpires who are officiating games will play as a team in this event and this is a very rare occasion. Lanka Cavaliers President former Cambrian Cricketer Wasanthalal Fernando said presently they are involved with cricket tournaments and they won against MCA Committee last week and now get ready to conduct this sixes tournament. The organisers will give cash awards and trophies for the winners and runners up. The special prizes for Best Batter, Best Bowler, Man of the Final will be awarded at the awards ceremony.
