LG Elections: Four Complaints Filed Within 24 Hours

The Sri Lanka Police have received four complaints related to the upcoming Local Government Election within the 24-hour period ending at 6:00 a.m. on April 16, 2025.
According to police reports, two of the complaints are related to election violence, while the other two concern violations of election laws. During this time, two candidates and four supporters were arrested.
From March 3 to April 16, 2025, police have received a total of 168 election-related complaints. These include 36 cases of election violence and 132 cases of election law violations. So far, 18 candidates and 61 supporters have been arrested, and 14 vehicles have been taken into police custody.
The 2025 Local Government Election is scheduled to take place on May 6.
