Kandakadu clash: President asks for report

President Ranil Wickremesinghe calls for a full report on the Kandakadu Rehab Center incident yesterday and steps needed to be taken to avert a recurrence of such incidents, following discussions with Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe.

Around 50 inmates had escaped following a clash between two groups at the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre in Polonnaruwa yesterday evening.

It was reported at least five inmated have been injureds following the clash.

Army and the Police had been called to control the situation and several inmates who had escaped, later turned themselves in.

Search operations are on-going to apprehend the inmates who escaped.
