Johnston Fernando released from another case

The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today (28) ordered to release Minister Johnston Fernando and two other suspects in the case filed over the deployment of 153 Sathosa workers for other activities.

Releasing the trio, Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala observered that the Bribery Commission has not followed the proper process in filing the case.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala said that the Bribery Commission had not obtained the proper approvals from the three commissioners before filing the case.

The Bribery Commission had requested the court to release the suspects from the case by ensuring the commission’s right to re-file a case against them as per Section 186 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
