First Locally Assembled “City Pik-Up” Introduced
Mahindra Ideal Lanka has introduced the first locally assembled “Bolero City Pik-Up” truck to the local market.
The vehicles were inspected by Minister of Industries Wimal Weerawansa at the local vehicle assembling plant of Mahindra Ideal Lanka located in Welipenna, Mathugama on Tuesday (26).
The newly introduced “Bolero City Pik-Up” trucks have been assembled with nearly 30% locally manufactured vehicle parts.
Minister Weerawansa said this production has proven that Sri Lanka is capable of manufacturing locally assembled vehicles.
He pointed out that the vehicles are assembled under the Government approved Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) that was recently introduced for the institutions in the vehicle assembly industry in the country.
The Minister added that Sri Lanka is systematically moving towards introducing locally assembled vehicles with the ‘Made in Sri Lanka’ branding to the country.
