Entrust Easter attacks investigation to Shani, Sajith tells President

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has called upon President Ranil Wickremesinghe to entrust the Easter Sunday attacks investigation to the former Director of the CID, Shani Abeysekara.

In Parliament, Premadasa highlighted Abeysekara’s effective prior work on the investigations and emphasized that he was a trusted and honest official, even in the eyes of President Wickremesinghe.

Premadasa further stated that their demand for an international probe stems from the belief that a transparent and fair investigation had not been conducted at the local level.

He clarified that their ultimate goal is the revelation of the truth and that they would prefer a transparent local investigation over the involvement of international investigators if it ensures transparency.
