Electricity tarrif hike soo, CEB’s plan to be submitted to PUCSL

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) plans to promptly share the pertinent information regarding their request for another electricity tariff increase with the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), either today (02) or tomorrow (03).

Recently, the CEB approached the PUCSL, seeking a tariff adjustment due to the expenses incurred during periods of arid weather, particularly for thermal power generation.

As per CEB insiders, they intend to provide comprehensive details related to the tariff adjustment request within the next two days, as this request falls outside the regular tariff revision schedule.

CEB’s General Manager, Eng. Dr. Narendra De Silva, explained that they originally sought a tariff increase in October, which was initially scheduled for January.
