Dengue claims another two lives
In the midst of growing concerns raised by medical experts regarding a severe dengue outbreak, Sri Lanka continues to witness an increase in dengue-related fatalities.
As a recent update, two additional deaths have been documented, bringing the total number of deaths to 27.
The Epidemiology Unit reports a total of 44,038 cases thus far in 2023, with the Gampaha District reporting the highest number of cases at 9,638.
Among the provinces, the Western Province has recorded the highest number of cases, surpassing 21,967. The Epidemiology Unit has also identified 67 areas within the Ministry of Health (MOH) that are considered high-risk for dengue.
For the month of June alone, there have been 4,654 reported cases of dengue.
