Delay of LG Poll: NPP files FR petition

A Fundamental Rights petition was filed in Supreme Court by the National People’s Power (NPP) today, seeking an order to direct the relevent authorities to hold Local Government Election 2023.

NPP MP Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, former JVP MP Sunil Hadunneththi and Dr. Nihal Abeysinghe filed the petition.

Treasury Secretary Mahinda Siriwardena, Attorney General, Election Commission and several others have been named as respondents
