Dayasiri seeks PSC on international challenges posed by SL
State Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara yesterday (22) requested Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena to establish a Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) to address any international allegations and challenges posing Sri Lanka.
Handing over a letter to the Speaker, Jayasekara highlighted three aspects which he claimed are possible challenges to Sri Lanka.
They are resolutions/Bills that are already passed and backed by international support, fabricated, adverse propaganda specially backed by international support and the frequency of lobbying at international platforms and in the event of growing influence of extremism.
These concerns were brought to his attention by Global Sri Lanka Forum, Jayasekara said. He also handed over copies of several Bills, resolutions along with the letter.
Speaking in Parliament on the same day Jayaekara said a PSC should be appointed to investigate the assets of those who were named in the Pandora Papers.
Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella also agreed with Jayasekara’s request.
