Committee to probe unruly incidents in Parliament
Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana announced today (06) that a committee consisting of senior members from the Government and Opposition will be appointed within the week to look into the incidents that took place in Parliament last Friday and Saturday and submit a report.
These incidents were occurred following a speech made by SJB MP Manusha Nanayakkara on last Friday.
“On Friday (3) and Saturday (4) certain unruly incidents were reported from the Parliament Chamber and Parliament Lobby,” said the Speaker.
Jathika Jana Balawegaya (JJB) Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that the Party Leaders discussed the breach of discipline in the house on those two days this morning.
Meanwhile, the SJB MPs who boycotted today’s sitting staged a protest outside Parliament against unruly conduct of the Government against them in the Parliament.
