Commissioner General of Prisons, Officers summoned to Human Rights Commission
The Commissioner General of Prisons Thushara Upuldeniya and several prison officials have been summoned to the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka today (12).
They have been summoned to inquire into allegations regarding a group of inmates at the Watareka Prison were used to attack protesters on the 9th of Monday.
The chairperson of the commission, Retired Supreme Court Judge Rohini Marasinghe said they had been informed to appear before the commission this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Senior DIG in-charge of the Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon has been summoned to appear before the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka on Friday (13).
The decision to summon Senior DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon was based on submissions made by the IGP and the Army Commander before the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka yesterday.
