Cabinet to Announce Response to Suspension of Deshabandu within Two Days

The Cabinet has resolved to announce its response to the Supreme Court’s decision to suspend Deshabandu Tennakoon as Inspector General of Police (IGP) within the next two days.

Following the Supreme Court order today to suspend Deshabandu Tennakoon from performing duties as the IGP, President Ranil Wickremesinghe called for an emergency Cabinet meeting.

During the meeting, it was decided to announce the official stance of the Government within next two days, after thorough consideration of all legal aspects related to the matter.
