46 Shooting Incidents Reported Since January 2025

A total of 46 shootings have been reported across the country since January 1st this year, with 31 of them carried out by organized criminal gangs, Police Media Spokesman SSP Buddhika Manatunga said.

He stated that over 100 suspects have been arrested in connection with these shootings, while police have seized 41 firearms, including 27 pistols and 14 T-56 rifles. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects, he added.
